Types of volunteer opportunities

We have a continuous need for reliable volunteers to work with visitors in "front-of-house" positions.  Our docents greet visitors, answer questions, help in the gift shop, and may give tours to groups of all ages.  Typically, volunteer docents commit to regular shifts over a medium- to long-term period.  Once trained, volunteer tour guides may be able to choose tour times and create a flexible schedule.

Volunteers help staff events such as Night at the Museum, Creepy Campus Crawl, and outreach events.  These may be continuing or one-time commitments, and require varying amounts of training.

We sometimes need volunteers for short-term work such as hanging posters in local businesses or preparing materials in advance for education programs.

If you want to volunteer but none of these sound right for you, or if you have professional skills you think would be useful to the museums, get in touch—we'll try to find an opportunity that matches your interests.

UPDATE: We are at capacity with volunteers. We'll re-open the application link when space is available. Thank you for your interest.
