Collector Statement:

"I have been collecting snow globes off and on since 1976, purchasing my first one from the Mission gift shop in San Juan Capistrano, CA, a place where it never snows. I love the absurdity of snow globes and they are my way of recording and remembering my travels. I prefer the cheap plastic tourist snow globes, though trends in tourist souvenirs has made those harder to find.

More recently, I have added some of the newer style snow globes, mostly from Europe, which have small bases and actual glass globes. I have several smaller collections within the collection of museums, games, and globes with moving parts. I had at one time over 200 snow globes, several moves and de-accessioning have reduced the collection to around 175 individual snow globes.

Snow globes are acquired or rejected completely by whim. At home, I display them on small shelves between the studs in my furnace room, this is the snow globes first public outing."
