Stanley Creates: Possibilities with Pencil

Stanley Creates: Possibilities with Pencil promotional image

While a pencil is one of the simplest art tools artists use, it is filled with creative possibilities of expression, meaning, and fun!

In this lesson, we will explore and learn from the drawings of Margot Kren, Augustus Wall Callcott, and Caroline Durieux. Then we will experiment with different pencil techniques that can be used in unique and inspired drawings of your own. All you need is a pencil, eraser, and some paper. Come draw with us!

Stanley Creates is an interactive program for children and teens to learn art-making techniques using everyday materials. Taking inspiration from the museum’s collection, participants play with materials to create unique projects at home. Megan L. Dehner, a master’s candidate in art education at the College of Education, demonstrates the process and provides feedback to participants.

Video instructions will be available after the event for those who are unable to attend, but would like to make the projects.
